Welcome!

Hello and welcome!

This is Stewart Paske's Media Response - One man's response to the Media through the medium of the internet. True, I am now one of many people talking about the Media in blog format, but one more can't hurt surely? But I hope my perspective will create some new and interesting points worth commenting on.

I suppose I will start simply discussing some of the Media I have consumed in the past few days. First off, Top Gear. This is a particular favourite of mine as it has the perfect combination of personalities, fast cars and stunts that any sane individual would have neither the time or money to carry out. Some people would consider this another turn in the dumbing down of the media, but the fact at the matter is that it is entertaining. This is what Top Gear is supposed to do.

Like Genius on Radio 4, it's a bit off-the-wall and was met with mixed opinion from the Radio 4 audience when it first started. But that's just the Radio 4 audience for you I suppose. Intelligent, opinionated and not afraid to show it. But at least it isn't another You and Yours.

And Scott Mills on Radio 1. Text Divert, 'Matt Damon!' and 'The Ladies Bras' are hardly the most intellectual concepts on the planet but at the end of the day, they are simple, brilliant, and entertain thousands.

Some things I look forward to in the future however include this weeks instalment of Dirk Gentley's Holistic Detective Agency and of the News Quiz on Radio 4, Thursday Night Comedy on BBC 2, the next Top Gear and the next instalment of The Long Way Down.

I regret however I will most likely miss alot of good TV on Friday Night as I work late hours. If I had SkyPlus or a Digital Set-Top Box with a hard drive I would record it. Being a student however, such luxuries can be few and far between.

That's some of my media consumption for you, hopefully it will give me something to think about and discuss?
